work in the legislative council
My priorities for Western Australia
Western Australians deserve a government that is disciplined with money, serious about fixing housing and focused on the services people rely on every day. My work in Parliament is guided by these priorities: restoring trust in how public funds are managed, tackling the housing crisis, standing up for local communities and demanding a health system and other public services that deliver. These are the issues that matter most to families across our state.
Fiscal Responsibility
Stop the blank cheques
Sound financial management is the foundation of good government and the key to restoring public trust. Western Australians work hard for what they earn and expect the same discipline from their leaders. I’ll keep pushing for transparency, independent scrutiny of spending, and budgets that are honest about what they can deliver. Good economic management means living within our means, investing wisely and protecting taxpayers from wasteful decisions that leave future generations to pay the price.
planning and housing
Helping to get housing back on track
Housing has become one of the defining issues of our time. Families are struggling to afford a home, younger West Australians see ownership slipping further out of reach, and the social housing waitlist has blown out to record levels. In Parliament, I have pressed the government on its narrow approach to demand forecasting and challenged its complacency on delivery. I am also serving on the Select Committee on Planning and Land Development, chaired by Hon Neil Thomson MLC, to expose systemic failings and push for reform. We need planning rules that cut red tape, encourage supply and support those on the frontline of the crisis. Every West Australian deserves the chance of a secure roof over their head.
government accountability
Holding government to account
Trust in government depends on honesty, transparency and a willingness to face scrutiny. I’ll continue to call out waste, mismanagement and decisions made without proper consultation, and ensure the voices of ordinary West Australians are heard. Holding government to account isn’t about partisanship, it’s about making sure public money is spent responsibly, promises are kept, and those in power remember who they serve.
